Ludo narrative dissonance is the conflict between a video game's narrative and its game play.
Yes there is a few games i know of where this isn't a problem between the story lines and game play as those games don't have a specific story line and is focused on the mechanics of the games, for example mine craft until recently there was no story mode but even now the story mode is a completely separate game from the original. Then of course there are just those games that have a story line that doesn't match up too well to the game play, for example saints row 1-4, yes these are great games and the story line started to match up to game play in four but it was weird how the games linked to each other and just started going insane and weird story lines, from the first one that was serious to four that was fighting aliens with giant purple dildos, nether of the aspects were bad but didn't link up as soon as you could start to free roam around the city killing indiscriminately. Then there are games like halo that the mechanics are built around the story line but in the end those games just turn out to be a rush with no-one listening to the dialog and killing anything that stand in the way, in turn means the story line is also built around the game play. so yes story line is good in some cases but as soon as the mechanics are different and don't suit the story line it turn into one hell of a mess very quickly.
